Volderer See, Austria and the drive to Lago di Caldaro, Italy
We originally planned to stay in Austria for a longer period, but because of the persistent and heavy rain, we decided to drive away earlier than expected. Having visited Austria many times before, we certainly look forward to returning with the kids again in the future. For this quick stop, we prebooked a spot at Schloss Camping Ascach, located just outside of Innsbruck, which provided a convenient stop. We were met with heavy, torrential downpours that seemed to follow us relentlessly all the way from Bavaria, Germany. Thankfully, upon our arrival at the campsite, we quickly spotted a charming cafe and an inviting playpark nearby. The cafe offered traditional food and boasted a surprisingly elegant atmosphere, which was quite impressive considering it was located right on the campsite grounds.

The reason we wanted to share this stay is because of the incredible drive across to Italy. The scenery along the route was absolutely breathtaking and truly reminds us why we choose to travel so frequently by road. The ever-changing landscapes, from rolling hills to charming small towns, create a journey that feels as rewarding as the destination itself.
Into the sun and vineyards!
